Ibrahim Mahama, the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners, has announced that his company is set to invest in significant new infrastructure projects for communities surrounding the Damang Mine.
He shared these details during the official takeover of operations by Engineers and Planners, following the formal handover of the mine for production on Saturday, 18 April 2026.
Speaking shortly after the ceremony, Mr Mahama explained that the company is already evaluating several community-driven proposals.
High on the agenda is the development of local sports facilities, which aims to provide better recreational outlets for residents.
In addition to social amenities, the CEO outlined ambitious plans to overhaul the region’s transport infrastructure.
These include the development of a local airport and a major expansion of the road network to enhance connectivity.
“I want to pledge this, and I want to say it for everybody to hear. I got a text from one of our young men in here. It says we should build astroturfs for all the communities, which we’re looking to do,” he said.
“We’ve applied for Damang to have an airport, and within six months, Damang will have an airport, such that we can fly to Accra easily. In the next two years, we’ll be able to drive from here to Cape Coast on a concrete road or a natural road,” he added.
“I beg you, this is not political talk. This is real talk,” Mahama said.
