The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has reduced the Ghc10 million bail condition for musician Shatta Wale to Ghc5 million with two sureties.
This was confirmed by Sammy Baah, a management team member at the headquarters of EOCO in Accra.
The controversial dancehall musician had been detained by EOCO in connection with tax evasion allegations.
The musician’s lawyer also confirmed to the media that the initial bail amount of GH₵10 million was reduced to GH₵5 million.
“As part of the bail conditions, he is to report to EOCO three times a week,” Mr. Boyuo added.
This release follows days of legal proceedings tied to allegations concerning the acquisition of a Lamborghini Urus—specifically, an alleged failure to prove legitimate ownership of the vehicle.
The musician was detained on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, after he had honored an invitation by officials at EOCO. He is being held in connection with tax obligations on a yellow Lamborghini.
Management of the musician, in a statement, disclosed that Shatta Wale voluntarily presented himself at the EOCO offices on Wednesday, along with his lawyer Cephas Boyuo, to assist with investigations.
Meanwhile, EOCO has stated that he has been unable to show where he purchased his Lamborghini Urus.
A statement issued by the organized crime office said the musician claims to have purchased the car from the “Street” and from someone possibly called “ZAK.”
“So far, Charles Nii Armah Mensah has been unable to identify the person from whom he purchased the said Lamborghini Urus vehicle except to say that he purchased it from the ‘Street’ and from someone possibly called ‘ZAK’ who may have contacted him on WhatsApp but whose identity he does not know and whose contact he has thrown away.”
EOCO further revealed that the musician does not also possess any documentation, in terms of a receipt or transfer documents, which shows that he owns or purchased the said vehicle, except a customs declaration document in his possession bearing the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently in jail.
