The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has emphasised the need for greater respect for Ga customs and traditions.
He expressed concerns over the perceived disregard for the Ga people, despite their significant role as custodians of Ghana’s capital.
According to him, traditional leaders in the region remain committed to maintaining peace and harmony.
He made these remarks while speaking at a durbar to climax the 2025 Homowo celebration in Kpone, on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
“We won’t banish anyone from Accra because we are welcoming by nature, and the least we expect is to be respected and duly honoured. The Greater Accra Region has been successful as the country’s capital because of the loving nature of the Ga people. It should never happen that we are disrespected for hosting the nation’s capital,” he noted.
He further stressed that Ga traditions and customs must be preserved and respected to empower traditional leadership and strengthen cultural identity.
