The National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Sofo Azorka, has publicly expressed indignation over an unannounced visit by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, to the NDC party office.
The political leader threatened that if he had encountered the Minority Leader at the location, another by-election would have been held in Effutu.
Mr. Azorka stated that the visit by the Minority Leader to the NDC office was unnecessary.
A heated exchange ensued between NDC members and the entourage of the Minority Leader.
Mr. Azorka described the move as “highly disrespectful” and “provocative” and warned that if he had met the Minority Leader at the area, he would have dealt with him ruthlessly.
NDC members further alleged that Afenyo-Markin and his team stormed the office to remove some posters of their candidate.
Speaking to the media, he alleged that the NPP was using the by-election as a platform to test undemocratic strategies, warning that the NDC would resist such moves.
He stated, “A by-election will be held in his [Afenyo-Markin’s] constituency if he tries anything.” “What does he want here? Is he the NDC secretary? You people should talk to them.” Meanwhile, police confirmed that one person has been arrested in connection with the incident.
