The High Court has rescinded the bench warrant it issued for the arrest of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, following his appearance in court shortly after the warrant was issued.
The warrant for Wontumi’s arrest was issued at 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday, but he and his lawyers arrived after 10 a.m. to request its withdrawal, which was officially rescinded at 11:39 a.m.
According to Andy Appiah-Kubi, counsel for Chairman Wontumi, he had advised his client to appear at 10 a.m., believing that the case management conference was scheduled for that time.
The presiding judge while rescinding the arrest order, the presiding judge cautioned Chairman Wontumi to be punctual in his future appearances.
