Hon. Lawrence Agyinsam, Member of Parliament for the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency, has raised concerns about the poor mobile network coverage in his constituency. During a parliamentary session, Hon. Agyinsam asked the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation about the ministry’s plans to improve mobile network service coverage in the district.
The MP emphasised the importance of access to telecommunications for the socio-economic development of the constituency, citing the potential benefits for education, healthcare, business, and communication. He also highlighted the constituency’s famous tourist site, the Kakum National Park, and how poor network coverage is hindering tourists from sharing their experiences with the world.
Hon. Agyinsam urged the Minister to fast-track the rural telephony project and ensure regular maintenance checks in areas that need special attention.
The MP remains committed to advocating for the welfare and development of his constituents.
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Sam George, provided an update on the status of rural telephony projects in the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency.
According to the minister, some sites are fully active and operational, while others are at various stages of completion.
The minister revealed that the Bremen site has been built and integrated, with ongoing work to operationalise it.
Additionally, construction has been completed on other sites in Abrafo, but they are yet to be integrated and operationalised. A drive test is being arranged to assess communities that are yet to be covered for consideration.
The Minister assured that his team is working closely with contractors and subcontractors to ensure all sites are completed and operationalised by the end of the year.
He also noted that his office has engaged with Hon. Agyinsam’s office to address outstanding issues in the constituency.
