A 42-year-old man, Nya Meah, allegedly killed his neighbour before taking his own life in Takinta, Jomoro Constituency.
Meah reportedly sent a voice note to his son declaring his intent to commit suicide, specifically requesting that his body not be kept in a mortuary.
After hearing the message, Meah’s son sought help. A neighbour, Cosmos Nda, joined the effort and rushed to Meah’s house to intervene.
Upon their arrival, Meah accused Nda of “pursuing him” and chased him with a knife.
Nda tripped while fleeing, and Meah allegedly stabbed him to death on the spot.
Meah initially fled the scene but later returned to his home unnoticed.
He reportedly ingested weedicide and set his house on fire while inside.
Neighbours discovered Meah’s body after noticing the blaze.
The community remains in shock as local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
