The Ghana Police Service has announced the identification of a fifth suspect in relation to the murder of Austin Tengbeh, a 26-year-old Liberian information technology specialist who was attacked in Sakumono, Lashibi, Accra.
The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Commissioner of Police Lydia Yaako Donkor, disclosed this during a press briefing held on Monday, March 9, 2026. Initially, three suspects – Vincent Adzikah, Francis Amuzu, and William Addison – were apprehended at the scene by Sakumono District Police officers on February 27, 2026.
Subsequently, a fourth suspect, Enoch Mensah, who had gone into hiding after the incident, resurfaced and was arrested, later being remanded into custody on March 4, 2026.
The fifth suspect, Nana Agyening Boateng, previously unmentioned in police statements or media reports, has also been arrested and remanded.
According to COP Donkor, Boateng is believed to have initiated the sequence of events that resulted in Tengbeh’s death. Currently, all five suspects are in police custody and are scheduled to reappear before the Baatsonaa District Court on March 16, 2026.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on March 5, 2026, after the body was formally identified by the deceased’s brother-in-law, with the pathologist awaiting toxicology results to finalise the autopsy report.
The case was referred to the CID Homicide Unit on March 2, 2026, along with evidence and suspects for further investigation.
