murder

The police have apprehended a 25-year-old traditional priest, identified as Horlali Prosper, at Jei Krodua for allegedly murdering his girlfriend and mutilating her body parts, suspected to be for ritual purposes, in the Awutu Bentum area of the Awutu Senya West District in the Central Region.

According to reports, the suspect lured the victim into a nearby bush where he allegedly beheaded her and removed certain body parts, including her breast and private parts.

Further investigations reveal that the suspect had inherited his father’s property but reportedly wanted to renounce his father’s gods. He allegedly carried out this act as part of rituals associated with new gods he had brought from Togo.

Additional information available revealed that the suspect had previously attempted to kill a close friend but failed.

The suspect was arrested after the incident was reported, and eyewitnesses described the gruesome nature of the crime, raising suspicions about the intended use of the body parts.

Following the incident, angry residents demolished the suspect’s house and set his shrine ablaze.

The police have taken the body for preservation and are continuing their investigations. The Assemblyman for the Mfadwen Pobee Ayiresu Electoral Area, Hon. Prince Larbi, confirmed the incident, noting that the deceased had travelled from Kasoa to visit the suspect.

He expressed concern over increasing cases of killings in the area and advised the youth against seeking quick wealth through unlawful means.
