The Member of Parliament for Trobu Constituency, Hon. Gloria Owusu, has visited the Muus Timber Market following a devastating fire outbreak over the weekend that left a trail of destruction and displaced several traders and artisans.

In a statement, Hon. Owusu expressed her deep sorrow at the destruction of property but was relieved that no lives were lost in the incident. “While the destruction to property is heartbreaking, I am relieved that no lives were lost. Many traders and artisans have, however, lost their livelihoods,” she said.

The MP commended the leadership of the Muus, the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ghana Armed Forces for their swift response and coordination, which helped bring the situation under control. “I commend the leadership of the Muus, the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ghana Armed Forces for their bravery and professionalism in responding to the fire outbreak. Their efforts helped to prevent further damage and ensured that the situation was brought under control,” she added.

Hon. Owusu made some donation to support affected victims, saying, “I made a small donation to support the affected victims. Though modest, it is my hope that it brings some relief to those who have lost their businesses and livelihoods.”

The MP expressed her solidarity with those impacted by the fire, saying, ‘My thoughts are with all those impacted, and I remain confident that we will rebuild stronger together.’ We will work together to rebuild the market and restore the livelihoods of those affected.”

Hon. Owusu’s visit to the Muus Timber Market is seen as a show of support and solidarity with the affected individuals and her commitment to helping them recover from the devastating effects of the fire outbreak.

The fire outbreak has left many traders and artisans in the Muus Timber Market facing significant challenges, including loss of goods, equipment, and workspace, and the MP’s office has promised to provide assistance to help them get back on their feet.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
