The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has successfully concluded a strategic four-day intensive operation across the Eastern and Greater Accra regions, aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks during the Easter festivities.

Acting on robust intelligence, the Commission conducted rigorous stop-and-search exercises and foot patrols in key transit hubs such as Koforidua, Osino, and Kwahu-Mpraeso.

Supported by K-9 units, these efforts significantly disrupted illicit supply chains and intercepted various illegal substances, reinforcing a stern warning to criminal syndicates exploiting the holiday period.

In the Greater Accra Region, the operation escalated with a high-stakes raid in Ashaiman, resulting in the arrest of two suspected ringleaders of a notorious trafficking cartel.

Subsequent coordinated actions in hotspots including Circle, Avenor, and Labadi led to the seizure of cannabis, hashish, and various drug-infused edibles.

NACOC expressed particular concern regarding the sophisticated packaging of these substances—such as cannabis-infused drinks and sweets—which increasingly target younger populations and pose a grave threat to public safety.

According to officials, throughout the exercise, officers maintained high standards of professionalism and respect for human rights, conducting visible patrols along recreational areas like Labadi Beach to ensure a safe, drug-free environment for the public.

The Commission says it remains steadfast in its commitment to national security and has urged citizens to provide credible information to assist in ongoing investigations.
