The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has issued an official notice to residents across the Ashanti Region following widespread power outages triggered by a severe rainstorm earlier today, Wednesday, 8th April 2026.
The utility provider confirmed that the heavy downpour, which swept through various districts this morning, caused significant disruptions to the local distribution network, leaving several communities without electricity.
In a statement released shortly after the storm, the company expressed its commitment to addressing the situation promptly. ECG management assured those affected that technical teams and engineers have already been deployed to the field.
These crews are currently working to identify specific faults. Nnnñ until the power supply is fully restored to the affected areas.
While the company is working on broad network repairs, it has also advised individual households and businesses still experiencing localised blackouts to report their specific situations.
Customers are encouraged to contact the ECG national call centre on 0302611611 or visit the nearest company office to lodge a formal complaint.

ECG offered an apology for the disruption.
Officials acknowledged the significant inconvenience the outages have caused to both domestic and commercial activities throughout the Ashanti Region and thanked the public for their patience while the restoration efforts continue.
