The Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Hon. Kwabena Boateng, has disbursed scholarships to a third batch of over 50 tertiary students from the constituency, bringing the total number of beneficiaries under his MP’s Tertiary Students Support Initiative to more than 150.
The latest presentation, which took place yesterday, forms part of the MP’s ongoing intervention to reduce the financial barriers facing students in universities, colleges of education, nursing training institutions, and other tertiary schools.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Boateng said the programme was designed to directly support “bright young minds” in Ejisu so they can pursue their academic dreams without being derailed by financial constraints.
“Since starting this programme, we’ve now supported more than 150 bright young minds, easing their financial burdens so they can chase their academic dreams,” the MP stated.
He explained that the third batch of beneficiaries, numbering over 50, were selected from various tertiary institutions across the country, all of whom are indigenes of Ejisu or have strong ties to the constituency.
Hon. Boateng framed the scholarship scheme as a long-term investment in human capital, linking the future of Ejisu and Ghana to the success of its students.
“It’s all about investing in our youth, building a stronger Ejisu, and transforming Ghana — one student at a time,” he said.
The Ejisu legislator noted that education remains one of the most effective tools for breaking cycles of poverty and creating opportunities for young people. By removing fees-related anxiety, he said, students are better positioned to focus on their studies, excel academically, and later contribute meaningfully to national development.
The MP’s Tertiary Students Support Initiative has now run three successful cohorts, with each batch expanding the reach of the programme. While the exact value of the latest disbursement was not disclosed, past beneficiaries have received support covering portions of tuition, accommodation, and academic user fees depending on individual need.
Community members and parents in Ejisu have described the initiative as timely, citing the rising cost of tertiary education and the pressure it places on households. Several beneficiaries, speaking after previous editions, said the support prevented them from deferring their programmes.
Hon. Boateng emphasised that the scholarship programme aligns with his broader development agenda for Ejisu, which prioritises education, skills training, and youth empowerment. He indicated that the initiative will be sustained and scaled, with subsequent batches planned to ensure more students benefit.
“Every student we support today becomes an asset for Ejisu tomorrow,” he added. “This is how we build the constituency and, by extension, transform Ghana.”
The MP’s Tertiary Students Support Initiative adds to other educational interventions he has championed since assuming office, including donations of learning materials to basic schools and mentorship engagements with senior high schools in the constituency.
