Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Minister Emelia Arthur has cautioned premix fuel distributors that charging more than the official GH¢200 rate for a 20-litre container will result in legal sanctions.
During a tour of the Pru East District, the Minister emphasised that the fuel remains government-subsidised to support fishing communities and urged fishers to report any illegal price increases to local authorities or the Ministry.
She explained that while prices fluctuate every fortnight based on National Petroleum Authority reviews and global market trends—potentially decreasing if international tensions ease—the current maximum price must be strictly observed.
She warned premix fuel committees to reject deliveries that fall short of the mandated 13,300-litre volume, instructing members to refuse to sign delivery forms and report any discrepancies for immediate action against suppliers.
