President John Dramani Mahama, the African Union (AU) Champion for African Financial Institutions, has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the Africa Forward Summit.

This high-level France-Africa partnership meeting, organised by French President Emmanuel Macron, brings together African Heads of State, global business leaders, and international partners to foster collaboration on sustainable development and economic resilience.

The President’s schedule begins on Tuesday morning with a high-level discussion on Green Industrialisation and Energy Transition.

This session is designed to chart a path for Africa’s industrial growth while simultaneously addressing the global climate crisis.

Later that day, reflecting his strategic role as the AU Champion, President Mahama will participate in a working lunch centred on the Reform of the International Financial Architecture.

These discussions will focus on improving African countries’ access to sustainable financing and ensuring the global financial system becomes more equitable and responsive to the continent’s unique needs.

In addition to these economic engagements, President Mahama—who is currently leading the Accra Reset Initiative—will co-chair a health-focused roundtable titled “Rethinking Global Health and Building Resilient National Health Systems”.

On the sidelines of the summit, the President has scheduled several high-profile bilateral meetings to strengthen global ties. He is set to hold talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, and IFAD President Alvaro Lario.

These dialogues will focus on international cooperation, economic stability, and food security for both Ghana and the broader African continent.

President Mahama is expected to depart Nairobi on Tuesday evening to return to Accra.
