Divine Nkrumah, the Director of Operations for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), has stated categorically that the revocation of the license of GN Bank—which later transitioned into GN Savings and Loans—was a well-orchestrated political scheme.
According to Nkrumah, this grand attempt to destroy the business empire of Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom was led by specific individuals within the previous administration who aimed to collapse targeted Ghanaian enterprises and publicly disgrace their owners.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Nkrumah argued that this hostile agenda was not confined to Ghana but extended internationally to other countries where Dr. Nduom held commercial interests.
He asserted, “I can confidently state that this was an orchestrated attempt by certain individuals in the previous government to destroy Ghanaian business. Nduom was not the only target. He was one of those who were targeted.”
To illustrate his point, he recounted the downfall of UT Bank founder Kofi Amoabeng, emphasizing how political interference by specific government actors led to the loss of that institution as well.
Divine Nkrumah told host Kwabena Agyapong that the previous administration went so far as to sponsor individuals to actively undermine Dr. Nduom’s businesses in Liberia and beyond.
He suggested that Dr. Nduom’s widespread entrepreneurial success had deeply infuriated certain political operatives.
Furthermore, Nkrumah claimed that deliberate efforts were made to ensure the bank’s license could never be restored, though he noted that this ultimate agenda did not fully materialize.
According to the PPP Director of Operations, the recent legal outcome is an answer to their prayers, as Dr. Nduom had been treated profoundly unfairly.
He explained that the case dragged on for so long because the previous government had intentionally anchored the bank license revocations into Ghana’s IMF deal, attempting to ensure the decisions could not be reversed even after they left office.
Concluding on a note of resilience, Divine Nkrumah assured listeners that GN Savings and Loans will bounce back stronger and much bigger than before, stating, “They intentionally did all they could to destroy businesses, but God has exposed them and ensured that their plan failed.”
