Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 28-man squad for Ghana’s World Cup preparation camp and the upcoming international friendly against Wales. The selection features five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven forwards.
The team opened camp on Monday at Dragon Park in Cardiff to prepare for the June 2 friendly against Wales. The camp serves as a crucial buildup to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
A major highlight of the squad is the return of PAOK defender Baba Abdul Rahman, who earns his first call-up since September 2023. The former Chelsea left-back has enjoyed a stellar season in Greece, tallying three goals and three assists across 35 appearances.
Olympique Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah also returns after a year-long absence, having fully recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Similarly, Rayo Vallecano’s Abdul Mumin joins the squad after a lengthy ACL injury layoff, alongside Saint-Étienne midfielder Augustine Boakye and Stade Rennes defender Alidu Seidu.
Additionally, Queiroz has included 20-year-old Ajax Amsterdam prospect Paul Reverson for long-term assessment following strong performances with the Dutch club’s youth side.
Following the training camp and friendly in Wales, Ghana will head to the World Cup, where they are placed in Group L. The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama in Toronto before facing England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia.
