The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has announced that the Greater Accra Region will experience sunny weather on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, offering a brief respite after the heavy downpour on Monday, 29 June 2026.
However, the agency warned that this dry spell will be short-lived for residents of the capital.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s flagship programme, Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, GMet meteorologist Fredrick Cudjoe explained that the intense rainfall recently experienced across Accra, Tema, and Kasoa is currently shifting toward the middle and western belts of the country.
Detailing the atmospheric conditions, he noted that the massive downpour witnessed on Monday had tracked into Ghana from neighbouring Nigeria, Benin, and Togo.
According to Cudjoe, Accra is projected to experience renewed rainfall starting midweek and lasting through the weekend, with showers primarily hitting in the early mornings.
“The Greater Accra Region will experience sunny weather tomorrow, Tuesday 30 June 2026. However, the region is projected to experience renewed rainfall starting midweek and lasting through the weekend, with showers primarily hitting in the early mornings. It will not be as intense as what we witnessed on Monday, but we should expect the rains from midweek until the weekend.”
He assured the public that GMet is closely monitoring the weather system to determine the exact severity of the upcoming weekend downpours and will continuously update the public via its official website and social media platforms.
In the meantime, Cudjoe advised citizens to take necessary precautionary measures to safeguard themselves.
