The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued an urgent weather warning for residents in Kumasi and parts of the Western Region, forecasting severe torrential rains in the coming days.

Fredrick Cudjoe, a meteorologist with the agency, urged individuals living in flood-prone areas within these regions to take immediate precautionary measures, including relocating to safer ground ahead of the heavy downpours.

Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s flagship program, Nyankonton Mu Nsem, Mr Cudjoe noted that the intense rainfall recently experienced in Accra, Tema, and Kasoa is shifting toward the middle and western belts of the country.

Detailing the atmospheric conditions, the meteorologist explained that the massive downpour witnessed on Monday, June 29, 2026, tracked into Ghana from neighbouring Nigeria, Benin, and Togo.

While a brief respite with sunny weather is expected on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the dry spell will be short-lived for capital residents.

Accra is projected to experience renewed rainfall starting midweek and lasting through the weekend, with showers primarily hitting in the early mornings.

Fredrick Cudjoe emphasised that GMet is closely monitoring the system to determine the exact severity of the upcoming weekend downpours and will continuously update the public via their official website and social media platforms.
