Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has been released after spending more than 48 hours in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
He secured his release on Tuesday evening, 14 July 2026, after successfully meeting his GH¢50 million bail conditions.
Mr Aboagye was arrested by EOCO operatives at the Accra International Airport immediately upon his return from a trip abroad.
According to EOCO, the arrest is linked to alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities amounting to approximately GH¢55 million.
The alleged infractions took place during his tenure as the Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).
The former IMCCoD Executive Secretary was arrested alongside the former accountant of the Secretariat, Gerald Appiah.
Getald Appiah has since agreed to pay what he had been accused of stealing.
