The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspected key member of an arms trafficking syndicate operating in Tema and other parts of the country.
The arrest, which took place on 9 July 2026, is part of an ongoing intelligence-led operation aimed at dismantling illegal weapon networks across Ghana.
According to police sources, the suspect was apprehended after supplying an AK-47 assault rifle (serial number AZ71551999), a magazine loaded with ten rounds of live ammunition, and a 9mm automatic pistol.
All retrieved items have been secured for evidential purposes.

This latest arrest brings the total number of weapons seized during the targeted crackdown to four.
The retrieved arsenal includes two AK-47 assault rifles (serial numbers BABA405817 and AZ71551999) and two pistols.
The identity of the suspect is currently being withheld by the police to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect remains in custody assisting law enforcement officers, while intensive efforts are underway to identify, track down, and arrest other members of the syndicate to completely break up the network.
