Police in the Accra Region have arrested two brothers in connection with the murder of a 54-year-old man and the severe injury of his wife at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija.
The suspects, Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon, were apprehended following an operation by the Accra Regional Police Command, supported by the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET).
The incident occurred on 6th August 2026, when local police received an urgent call regarding a shooting at the couple’s residence. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the victims, Rahman Mohamed and his 53-year-old wife, Christiana Fosu, suffering from gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment.
Both victims were immediately rushed to Finney Hospital in Weija, where Mr. Mohamed was pronounced dead on arrival.
His wife was subsequently transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment and responding well.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary, awaiting an autopsy.
During police interrogation, Almeida allegedly confessed to shooting the couple, citing personal grievance as his motivation.
Investigators revealed that the suspect claimed he was driven to act because the deceased had repeatedly called him “lazy and useless,” a description he claimed had affected him mentally.
Following his confession, Almeida led investigators to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate, where officers retrieved a pistol believed to have been used in the attack.
The weapon had been hidden beneath the wall drop of his brother, Bala Bilyon, who was an employee of the deceased. Police confirmed that both brothers share the apartment in Tuba.
Providing further details on the investigation, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, Chief Superintendent Ms. Juliana Obeng, stated, “Suspect Adams Adder Almeida further told investigators that the pistol was allegedly given to him by his friend, Gideon.
He subsequently led the investigative team to Gideon’s residence at Tuba, but he was not found at home.”
She added that “efforts are ongoing to locate him to assist with investigations,” while confirming that “meanwhile, Bala Bilyon has also been arrested for interrogation.”
Police investigations into the murder remain ongoing as officers track down the remaining suspect linked to the firearm.
