The Ghana Police Service has intercepted 1,054 vehicles across the Greater Accra Region as part of an aggressive nationwide crackdown on driver indiscipline and illegal vehicular modifications.
Officers targeted motorists unlawfully using sirens, strobe lights, beacon lights, unauthorized horns, and makeshift vehicle alterations designed to bypass traffic.
Offending drivers were educated on the country’s Road Traffic Regulations, while police teams forcibly removed and confiscated the illegal devices on the spot.
The operation forms part of a broader effort by law enforcement to restore sanity to Ghanaian roads, reduce noise pollution, and dismantle the growing trend of private motorists illegally claiming emergency right-of-way.
According to police figures, the ongoing operation has yielded 4,627 vehicle interceptions across the country since its launch on 15 June 2026.
The Police Administration has assured the public that these enforcement exercises will be sustained across all regions to enforce strict compliance with traffic laws and protect law-abiding road users.
