The Accra High Court (Specialised Court 1) has allowed the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, to leave court proceedings on medical grounds.

Presiding over the case, the judge accepted Mr Abdul-Wahab’s medical excuse duty, noting that although the document omitted specific diagnosis details, its authenticity remained unquestioned.

The court highlighted that the first accused had personally appeared to formally request leave to rest and take his medication.

Despite strong opposition from the Attorney-General’s Department, the court granted the application, allowing Mr Abdul-Wahab to depart while directing that the trial proceed in his absence due to the nature of the scheduled business.

Following the ruling, Mr Abdul-Wahab exited the courtroom. The court subsequently proceeded to hear a motion for a stay of proceedings filed by his legal counsel.
