A devastating multi-vehicle collision near Bonsu Junction in the Eastern Region has now claimed three lives following the death of an 11-year-old girl in hospital.
The young victim passed away at the Hawa Memorial Hospital while receiving emergency medical care for injuries sustained in the horrendous pile-up on Monday, 3rd August 2026.
She was among seven passengers, comprising five males and two females, who were rushed to the facility for urgent treatment shortly after the incident.
The horror crash at Etukrom involved a State Transport Company (STC) bus (GS 7050-22), a fuel tanker, a Mitsubishi pick-up (GE 8602-17), and a Kia Sorento (GT 8601-14).
The impact triggered a massive blaze that completely incinerated the STC bus, the fuel tanker, and the Mitsubishi pick-up, leaving the Kia Sorento severely damaged.
Confirming the latest casualty, the Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service, DOIII Ohemeng Adu Aaron, revealed that emergency responders worked tirelessly at the scene to rescue trapped victims and extinguish the raging flames.
Two individuals died on the spot during the initial impact, bringing the current fatality count to three. Authorities are yet to officially reveal the identities of the deceased as investigations into the incident continue.
