Following the disturbance, the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to launch an immediate, full-scale investigation into the matter and ensure that those responsible face strict sanctions.

The statement signed by the Deputy Minister for Education, Hon. Dr. Clement Abas Apaak said: “The Honourable Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to immediately take up the matter, commence a full investigation into the disturbance, and apply the appropriate disciplinary sanctions against all persons found culpable, in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the education sector,” the statement read.

Reiterating the government’s stance on maintaining order across schools nationwide, the Ministry emphasized that discipline remains the bedrock of quality education in Ghana.

“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that discipline remains the foundation of quality education and wants to assure the public that it will continue to work closely with the Ghana Education Service and other relevant state institutions to uphold discipline, safeguard school leaders, and students to ensure that schools remain safe spaces for teaching and learning,” the release stated.
