We want the President, Veep or Chief of Staff: Coalition of Disabled Graduates rejects Staffer to hand over petition

Members of the Coalition of Unemployed Graduates with Disabilities refused to present their petition to presidential staffer Dr. Samuel Ayeh during a protest on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Gilbert Boateng, Convener of the Coalition, clarified that while Dr. Ayeh was designated to accept the document, the group specifically sought to meet with high-level leadership capable of taking decisive action. He emphasized that the decision was not intended as disrespect toward Dr. Ayeh.

According to Boateng, the Coalition had properly notified authorities of their planned demonstration, yet security personnel denied them entry to the Presidency.

He noted that military officers cited “orders from above” to block their access, thwarting their efforts to engage directly with officials. Boateng stated that the group prefers to meet with the President, the Vice President, the Chief of Staff, or another senior official above Dr. Ayeh’s rank.

The decision stems from past frustration; Boateng lamented that a previous petition submitted to Shamima Muslim, a Deputy Government Communications Minister, failed to generate the necessary action.

The group’s primary demand is a dedicated financial clearance to secure employment without competing directly against able-bodied applicants.

Boateng declared that the protesters will remain at the Presidency until a high-ranking official personally receives their petition.
