A 27-year-old mobile money vendor from Wenchi in the Bono Region has died at the Tain District Hospital in Nsawkaw, following an alleged lack of medical oxygen at the facility.
The deceased, identified as Elizabeth, an asthmatic patient, was rushed to the hospital by her husband, Isaac Opoku, for urgent medical attention. However, she tragically lost her life after the facility reportedly ran out of oxygen needed to stabilize her condition.
Reporting the incident on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s flagship news bulletin, Nyankonton Mu Nsem, reporter Nana Kwame revealed that the bereaved family is demanding a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who claim this is not the first time a patient has died at the hospital due to a lack of essential medical supplies.
Deeply angered by the situation, community members are calling on the Health Minister, the Member of Parliament for Tain, and the Tain District Health Directorate to intervene immediately and equip the facility.
Meanwhile, management at the Tain District Hospital has rejected the claims, denying that Elizabeth’s death was caused by an oxygen shortage.
