The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has dismissed reports alleging that former Chief of the Defence Staff, General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, is under investigation for misconduct.
In an official press statement issued by the Department of Public Relations, Military High Command described the claims as “malicious,” “false,” and “groundless.”
General Oppong-Peprah, who currently serves as Ghana’s Deputy High Commissioner to Canada, had been linked by some news outlets to an ongoing military probe over alleged infractions.
Rebutting the claims, Acting Director General of Public Relations, Captain (Navy) Veronica Adzo Arhin, urged the public to disregard the report in its entirety.
“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to state emphatically that the story is false and groundless. No such investigation is being undertaken,” the statement read.
The military authority further called on all well-meaning citizens to cease spreading the false narrative, warning against the proliferation of unverified news items targeting public officers.
Gen Oppong-Peprah, who served as the head of Ghana’s military, currently holds the diplomatic position of Deputy High Commissioner to Canada.
