Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the official portal dedicated to passport applications, passport.mfa.gov.gh, is temporarily out of service due to ongoing technical complications.
The disruption has left numerous applicants unable to access online services, creating a bottleneck for individuals seeking to apply for new passports or renew existing documentation. In a formal statement released on Tuesday, 25th August 2026, the Ministry extended an apology to members of the public affected by the outage, clarifying that prompt action is underway to restore normal operation.
Highlighting the active interventions being made to address the system failure, the Ministry stated: “Our technical team is feverishly working with the National Signals Bureau to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.”
Assuring applicants that work is progressing to rectify the system fault without unnecessary delay, the Ministry added: “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused. The Ministry will provide an update once the problem is resolved.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to keeping the public informed, promising to issue further updates as soon as the online platform is fully restored and operational.
