A combined force of military and police personnel has arrested 11 individuals during an intelligence-led cordon and search operation at Kromase, near Nkwanta in the Oti Region.
The joint operation, led by the Combat Team Commander, Major Muktar Saani, took place in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Security forces swooped on selected premises in the enclave following credible intelligence gathered by security agencies. The operation, which began at dawn, concluded around 08:30 hours.
During the sweep, officers recovered a pump-action gun, several rounds of live ammunition, body armour, a locally manufactured ammunition belt, and a police uniform.
The security operation forms a key component of Exercise STARLIGHT STRETCH III, an ongoing military tactical maneuver structured to bolster the operational readiness of the Ghana Army in countering emerging security threats across the territory.

Following the search, all 11 suspects, alongside the seized weapons and military-grade equipment, were conveyed under heavy security escort to the operational base.
The suspects remain in custody, where they are actively assisting both the Police and Military with ongoing investigations to determine the intended deployment of the recovered gear.
High-ranking officers noted that the success of the Kromase mission underscores the critical role of actionable intelligence and robust inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding public peace, restoring stability, and protecting lives and property across the Nkwanta area.
