The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted Inspector Hance Atubra to the rank of Chief Inspector following his heroism during a fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region.
Inspector Atubra, stationed at the Tarkwa Divisional Headquarters, was elevated for his courage and quick response in rescuing trapped residents when a blaze swept through parts of the community on 26th August 2026.
The fire, which erupted at the Aboso Main Lorry Station, destroyed several shops and property.
Inspector Atubra, the first officer to reach the scene, rushed into the affected zone to assist trapped victims and coordinate their evacuation to safety.
Eyewitnesses praised the officer’s brave efforts, prompting community members and eyewitnesses to recommend him for formal recognition.
According to the Police Administration, the promotion highlights its ongoing commitment to rewarding police officers who demonstrate exceptional bravery, dedication, and selfless service in the line of duty.
