A joint security operation in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region has resulted in the death of a wanted suspect and the recovery of an AK-47 assault rifle along with 28 rounds of live ammunition.
The raid, executed by the Upper East Regional Police Command alongside military personnel, targeted individuals linked to recent violent shooting incidents across the district.
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Isaka Sabani, popularly known as “Culture”, sustained gunshot wounds during the tactical swoop and later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary police investigations reveal Sabani was on the radar of law enforcement following an attempted murder and unlawful firearm discharge reported at the Bawku Police Station on 28th August 2026.
Security agencies also linked the deceased to a series of violent attacks across the Binduri District between 29th and 31st August, including shootings at the Agenda 111 project site, Aniisi, and Gumyoko.
The Upper East Regional Police Command assured the public that joint intelligence-led operations with sister security agencies will persist until all perpetrators are brought to book and permanent order is restored to the region.
