The Head of Corporate Affairs at the Hajj Taskforce, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, has confirmed the death of two Ghanaian pilgrims in Mecca during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he described the incident as unfortunate.
He explained that one of the deceased persons died just a few days before the commencement of the pilgrimage, whereas the second, a female, died while moving from Madinah to Mecca.
He further disclosed that the deceased persons have been buried in line with Islamic rites, adding that unless in extreme cases, you will be buried where you died in line with Islamic rites.
‘’It is unfortunate that two persons have died, but we extend condolences to their families. The first person died just a few days before the commencement of the hajj. The other ones died from Madinah to Mecca. ‘They have been buried in accordance with Islamic rites,’ he added.
In addition to the reported deaths, he also disclosed that five individuals were repatriated due to visa-related issues.
