The Ministry of Education is engaging in a mid-year review session with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, scheduled from August 5 to August 7.

Led by Minister Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, the meeting provides a comprehensive overview of progress across all education levels, with agencies such as GES, NaCCA, NTC, GTEC, and Ghana Library Authority briefing the Committee on achievements, projects, and challenges.

The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to expanding access, improving quality, and promoting innovation.

Deputy Minister Dr. Clement Apaak also addressed queries during the interactive session.

This exercise aims to inform the Committee to guide policy and budget decisions for the education sector.

The Minister later posted an update on the engagement on his official Facebook page indicating that “Yesterday, I joined the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education for a week-long mid-year review session where all the agencies under the Ministry are presenting progress reports and key challenges from Kindergarten to Higher Education.

I used the opportunity to brief the Committee on the overall state of the sector highlighting major strides made in expanding access, improving infrastructure, enhancing teacher development, promoting STEM and TVET, and aligning our educational outcomes with national development goals.

These sessions are not just a statutory exercise they are an opportunity to strengthen our shared resolve in delivering quality education for every Ghanaian child.

I also paid a visit to Oyoko Methodist Senior High School, where a fire incident last night caused damage to some facilities. I met with school authorities and assured them of the Ministry’s swift intervention and support as we assess the extent of the damage and respond accordingly.

Education is the bedrock of Ghana’s future, and we will continue to lead with purpose, compassion, and strategic focus.”
