The Ghana Police Hospital has announced a temporary closure of several key departments to undergo a comprehensive fumigation and maintenance exercise.
The essential cleanup operation is scheduled to run from Friday, May 29, 2026, to Sunday, May 31, 2026.
The maintenance work will affect critical sections of the facility, including the New Out-Patient Department (OPD), Allied ward, Annex block, Laboratory, and the Mortuary.
To ensure the facility is properly prepared for the sanitation process, hospital management will halt all new admissions to the affected areas starting Thursday, May 28, 2026.
According to official communications, this measure is necessary to help decongest the units before the corefumigation work begins.
In a statement signed by the Public Affairs Officer, Chief Inspector Faustina Afia Nunekpeku, the hospital administration emphasized that the exercise is part of routine measures to uphold clinical standards.
“The exercise aims to improve safety and hygiene,” Nunekpeku stated, noting that the temporary disruption is vital for long-term public health safety.
With public access restricted during the three-day cleanup, the hospital administration is advising patients to seek medical attention elsewhere in the interim.
“Management of the Ghana Police Hospital appeals to members of the general public and clients to take note of this fumigation exercise in the hospital and use alternative healthcare facilities during this period,” the statement added.
Normal operations at the medical facility are expected to resume fully after the weekend exercise.
