The Tamale Circuit Court has granted bail to two midwives from the East Gonja District Hospital in Salaga who are standing trial over the alleged disappearance of a newborn baby at the facility.
The accused, 52-year-old Frank Atanga and 32-year-old Mariam Mohammed, face charges of conspiracy to steal and abduction.
Prosecutors allege that both individuals played active roles in the circumstances leading to the infant’s disappearance, resulting in their arrest and subsequent prosecution.
Presiding judge Her Honour Afua Srakubea Agyeman-Darbu admitted each of the accused to bail in the sum of GH¢150,000 with two sureties.
Under the specified conditions, the court directed that all surety requirements must be fully satisfied before the accused persons can be released.
The court has adjourned the matter to July 9, 2026, when legal proceedings are scheduled to continue.
