Dan Kweku Yeboah, crowned Comic Media Personality of the Year at the 2026 Ghana Comedy Awards on August 1, admitted that he would never have believed anyone who predicted he would find success in comedy.
Reflecting on his achievement, the broadcaster and sports journalist shared that the journey has been remarkable and that he takes immense pride in how far he has come.
Securing the category for the second time, Yeboah emphasized his preference for letting his achievements speak for themselves rather than self-aggrandizing, a philosophy that deeply influences both his personal life and professional outlook.
He extended his gratitude to the organizers for the honor while reiterating his core belief: “I don’t believe in the philosophy of blowing one’s own trumpet. I am a firm believer in allowing people to commend you or praise you for what you do.”
Drawing from his background in sports journalism, Yeboah highlighted his distaste for boastful athletes, citing figures like Cristiano Ronaldo and Floyd Mayweather as personalities he avoids emulating due to their frequent bragging.
“I am a sports presenter, but when it comes to sports personalities I admire, I don’t like personalities who blow their own trumpet. So I don’t admire Cristiano Ronaldo because he is fond of describing himself as the best in the world. Somebody should tell you that you’re the best in the world. I don’t admire Mayweather either because he is also a braggart. But I admire the likes of Manny Pacquiao. He is an unassuming character.”
Concluding his remarks, Yeboah praised the award organizers once more, noting that the initiative has firmly established its credibility and gained significant ground within the industry.
