The Ghana Cyber Security Authority has raised an alert over online fraudulent activities targeting customers of banks.
According to the alert, customers of banks receive SMS supposedly from their banks informing them that they would be receiving a call from an agent who will be assisting them in linking their Ghana cards with their accounts and credit/debit (ATM) cards.
It said those behind these messages then call to request personal identifiable information (PII) including Ghana card details, the primary account numbers, of debit cards and card verification value numbers among other details.
It said when these details are provided, the fraudsters carry out online transactions causing financial loss to the victims involved.
As part of the recommendations, the Authority has advised Ghanaians not to share their personal details including pin codes among others.
