DJ Azonto, a rising musician, has stated that if he is not named Artiste of the Year at the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, he will feel cheated.
He revealed on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm’s mid-morning show that he hopes to win no more than five awards at the next Vodafone Music Awards.
He justified his actions in the previous year, releasing arguably the most popular song of the year, and that not winning the most popular song of the year would be a cheat.
“I’m hoping to take home at least five awards at the next music awards. I’d like to be named overall artiste of the year, most popular song of the year, highlife song of the year, hip life song of the year, and collaboration of the year.
This is not a lofty goal. I’ve worked hard for what I’ve earned. For the current year, no musician has a popular song. I am the sole owner of Ghana’s most popular song today. I will sue the organisers if I do not win these categories.”
