Gospel musician Nana Adwoa has disclosed she had to battle depression after releasing her first album.
In an interview with Sokoohemaa Kukua on the mid-morning show on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, the musician stated there came to a point in her life she refused to go to church and have anything to do with God.
According to her, after releasing her first album in 2012, she received negative reviews, but those who should have encouraged her were the ones who discouraged her.
She told the host that she had to go bald since everything for her was not working.
“I went through depression,” Nana Adwoa said. It was a traumatic experience for me. It was not an easy task. It began after I released my first album. I received negative feedback after releasing the album. It got to the point where a Christian girl didn’t want to see the church building.
Those who were closest to me and whom I expected to encourage me were the ones who discouraged me. I allowed myself to be affected by certain things. “It was difficult,” she admitted.
She revealed further that she waited on God and searched for answers, and God came through for her.
She said he nearly gave up music, but through a vision in her sleep, God came through and strengthened her.
