Sustainable development practitioner Michael Ebo Amaoh has revealed some people are lobbying to have the former general secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, to be appointed the next Trade and Industry Minister.
He said on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that from reliable information, he has gathered, the former scribe could be the next minister after Alan Kyeremanten resigned from the position.
The Minister who has expressed interest in contesting the presidential primaries has communicated officially to the president to resign.
The president has not officially accepted the Minister’s resignation.
In response to the news, Mr. Ebo Amoah stated that the Minister has resigned in order to focus on his presidential ambition.
This comes as no surprise to him, and all other ministers with a stake in the primaries would resign as well.
He added that it has become difficult for the president to ”take bold” decisions to reshuffle his ministers despite several calls by citizens.
He said some of the ministers who have ambition for the presidency use their official assignments to embark on activities to sell themselves as potential candidates.
He said, ”it is long overdue for the president to reshuffle, but precedence should tell you that some of the things are not surprising”.
Meanwhile, he has noted that the person to become the new minister has become a bone of contention, with some people closer to the president preferring Michael Okyere Baafi or Herbert Krampah.
