Mr. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, Tano South Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress in the Ahafo Region, has warned all party executives at the constituency and branch levels not to endorse or campaign for any presidential or parliamentary aspirant.
He threatened that any party executive who disobeyed the directive would be denied the right to vote in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries.
The secretary stated that Tano South Constituency has agreed that any Branch or Constituency Executive member found openly campaigning or accompanying any of the Parliamentary Candidate Aspirants to campaign will be suspended following a successful General Meeting of Constituency Executives held on Friday 7th April 2023 at the party office.
He clarified and defined open campaigning as campaigning on social media platforms, posting aspirant posters on WhatsApp statuses, expanding the campaign beyond one branch, and the like.
”We have activated one of our by-laws and will use it in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential primaries on May 13, 2023. We have completed the vetting and would like to take this opportunity to caution all branch and constituency executives against endorsing or campaigning for any candidate.
That is a violation of the law, and anyone who violates the law will face consequences. You will be suspended if you openly campaign for any candidate, post his or her picture on social media or WhatsApp status, or join them in their campaign. That would not be the end of it. You would also lose your voting rights.”
