Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector-General of Police, and some members of the Police Management Board, along with the security of the Ashanti North Regional Police Command, have toured and interacted with the public, walked the streets, paid a courtesy call on Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua, President of the Kumawu Traditional Council, and assessed general security ahead of the upcoming Kumawu Constituency by-election.
The Police Commissioner is also said to have met with the leaders of the NDC and NPP to discuss security concerns.
The IGP reportedly warned both political parties to keep their supporters in check before, during, and after Tuesday’s by-election, adding that any form of misbehaviour will not be tolerated.
Following the death of incumbent Philip Basoah in March this year, the Electoral Commission will hold a by-election for the Kumawu constituency on Tuesday, May 23.
The by-election is being contested by four people.
Ernest Yaw Anim of the NPP, Kwasi Amankwaa of the NDC, and two independent candidates known as Kwaku Duah are among the four contestants.
