Superintendent George Asare, one of the senior officers accused of plotting to remove IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, claims the public tape has been doctored.
The senior officer informed the Committee that the public tape does not accurately represent the actual state of the meeting he was part of and organised by Bugri Baabu.
On September 4, 2023, Superintendent George Asare informed the Committee that once they receive the original tape, they will discover that the one on the public was doctored.
He went on to deny organising the meeting, stressing that Bugri Baabu was the one who organised the meeting.
He said I was not the ‘go-between’ for Bugri Baabu and COP Mensah.
He claimed he went to Mr Naabu’s office on Mr Naabu’s invitation after the former NPP northern regional chairman informed him that the government was looking for a new IGP and asked him for recommendations.
He also mentioned COP Alex Mensah and Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah in his recommendations to Mr Naabu.
Meanwhile, he has added that Bugri Naavu fabricated stories about him.
“I went to Mr Naabu’s office on his invitation…after he told me that the government was looking for a new IGP and asked me for recommendations…I made three recommendations, including COP Alex Mensah, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah and Christian Tetteh Yuhuno,” Supt. Asare said.
