Yussif Sulemana, the Member of Parliament for Bole Bamboi, has voiced indignation over the poor workmanship on the fallen Doli bridge in the Savannah Region.
According to the lawmaker, the repaired bridge is a death trap that needs to be redone immediately.
On September 17, 2023, a severe downpour washed away the bridge that connects the Upper West Region to the southern section of Ghana.
Kwesi Amoako-Attah, the Minister of Roads and Highways, visited the broken bridge on September 19 and assured residents that it would be fixed within a week.
The bride was finished and opened on September 29.
However, the MP says the work done was shoddy and has demanded that it must be redone.
“We need to appreciate and thank the minister and his people,” he said. “But we still need to draw attention to the fact that the work is still not yet done. The bridge has gone down, and that is a threat to commuters, vehicles, and human lives,” he told journalists after inspecting work done on the bridge.
