A political analyst, Alex Emmanuel Nti, says he would be shocked should Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia select a running mate for the 2024 presidential election.
He asserted that the Vice President’s description of the office of the second gentleman has made it difficult for him to select a running mate.
JResponding to a question on whether it was working for the candidate of the New Patriotic Party to start his nationwide campaign when he had not selected a running mate, Mr. Nti said he would have advised him not to select anyone because of the requirement in the Constitution of Ghana.
He noted that Dr. Bawumia, per his description of the Vice President as a driver’s seat who has no power to effect any change, should have no running mate.
I would be surprised if he selected a running mate based on his position and description of the vice president. If he chooses a running mate, Ghanaians should see him as someone who is not serious as a person. I am sure it has become difficult for him because he sees it as insignificant. He is saying that, as a running mate, you have no major role to play in his government.
If he selects a running mate, Ghanaians must vote against him because he is inconsistent. If it were not the constitution that requires candidates to select their running mates, I would have advised him not to bother.”
