The 2024 Foklex Media Awards Greater Accra Newscaster of the Year and Rainbow Radio’s newscaster, Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, has feted children at the Chosen Children’s home in Accra on his birthday.
At the Chosen Children’s Home, the award-winning journalist served inmates hot meals and assorted drinks.
He also donated a variety of food items, which included bags of rice, cooking oils, cartons of soft drinks, toiletries, detergents, and other items.

Speaking in an interview with Rainbowradioonline.com, Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi said the donation was something he cherished and offered an opportunity for him to share with the underprivileged children.
He stated that as individuals, we must reach out to others who are less fortunate than ourselves.
This, he stated, will help them feel part of society.
He encouraged coporate Ghana, individuals, and philanthropists to always reach out to children at the Children’s Home and other facilities.

He said caring for these inmates comes at a cost, and society must extend their support to ensure that these inmates are groomed to be responsible citizens.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the journalist for the kind gesture and promised to use the donation for its intended purpose.

Madam Felicity, one of the carers, stated, “We appreciate this kind gesture. This is not the first time he has done this. He had adopted the children as his own and comes here every year to do this. This is something we will continue to appreciate. We pray that God will continue to bless him with more strength and wealth so he will continue with his kindness.”
She lamented that one major challenge confronting the home is financial obligations, especially school fees for the children.

She said several of their children have not had their fees paid for more than a term.
With a population of over 60 children, she appealed to other individuals, philanthropists, and corporate Ghana to extend a hand so they could manage the home.
