An irate crowd in Danko, a suburb in Wa municipality, has lynched a suspected thief.
The alleged criminal, named as Hanam, is believed to have tried unsuccessfully to rob a mobile money vendor.
According to Rex Nhyiraba Antieku, a correspondent for Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem, the deceased’s body was discovered in a nearby park.
He disclosed that the young man wielding a pair of scissors attempted to rob the agent but was unlucky as he was apprehended by an angry mob.
The mob tied his hands and legs and left him in a park in the area after he was interrogated.
He allegedly confessed to being a thief and wanted to rob the agent.
Later in the evening, some of the angry youth in the area went back and assaulted him.
He was beaten in the ribs and parts of his body.
He was found dead on Monday, June 10, 2024.
It remains unclear those who assaulted him in the evening.
A lighter and a pair of scissors were found on his body.
He further reported that the young man was identified as a serial criminal who roamed the region with others, stealing and robbing residents.
The police were informed, and the body has since been retrieved and deposited at the mortuary.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
