The Fetish Priests and Priestesses Association has advocated a new strategy to the fight against corruption.
The Association wants political leaders to swear by our gods because it will aid in combating corruption and associated activities.
Nana Kwaku Bonsam, the association’s leader, believes that corruption is a canker killing the country, and all efforts to combat it have failed.
To help address the issue, he proposed for all political leaders to be made to swear by our gods before taking office.
Nana Kwaku Bonsam was speaking to the media at a news conference at Asenemaso Nkwanta in the Kwabre East Municipality of Ashanti.
He said the issue of corruption will be minimised if politicians swear by our gods instead of the Bible and Quran.
It will put fear in them and stop them from engaging in corrupt practices.
He also underscored the need for the stakeholders to commit to a peaceful and credible process.
“I am appealing to all the various traditional priests in Ghana to unite their front so we can pray together and vote for free, fair, transparent, and credible elections. Our prayer is to witness violence-free elections. We are optimistic that the 2024 general elections will be peaceful. We don’t want people to die as a result of the general elections. We are one people, and we must be united. We cannot allow politics or politicians to divide us,” he said.
He said we need to vote for someone who has the ability to manage the country.
“We have to pray for Ghana to develop. There is no need for us to fight or for anyone to die because some want to win political power. The most important point is for us to vote for a leader who has an interest in managing the country better. We don’t need to fight and spill blood because of political power,” he added.
